It is no secret that Fall/Winter is my preferred season for fashion. There is something so beautiful about layers of luxurious clothing that stimulate the creative senses. There is so much originality involved with draping your body in overcoats, peacoats, top coats, duffle coats, fur coats, suits, sport coats – and accessorizing with scarves, ascots, fedoras, sunglasses, waist coats, and wrist wear. It leaves you visually stimulated and keeps you guessing. That’s in stark contrast with the Spring/Summer style, which tends to expose much more.

Pitti Immagine Uomo 89 was no exception for seeing the aforementioned. Pitti truly is the crème de la crème of tradeshows for menswear in Florence Italy and is revered as one of the best places for retailers, editors, and buyers to discover – and set – new trends. Pitti is also a place to explore your wildest fashion dreams.

Wearing your overcoat off the shoulders was a trend that was prevalent and screamed European elegance. I also loved seeing pocket squares and leather gloves in the breast pockets of the outerwear (classic camel seemed to be the color of choice). Crimson, bright red, merlot, eggplant, violet, heather grey, charcoal, bright blue and navy hues also prevailed among the brilliant sartorial looks gracing the brisk streets of Firenze. Chalk stripes, windowpanes, tartan plaids, and plaid-solid pairings created intriguing and unexpected ensembles. Colorful umbrellas, walking sticks, leather tote bags and briefcases were a necessity. Looks were complete with round, wayfarer, aviator, square, and oversized sunglasses.

Now, go ahead and arouse your eyes and view my favorite looks below from Pitti Uomo 89. My theme for this year’s Pitti show: “Allure in Layering.”
