1. Vibrant Tuxedos
Many celebrities were seen in pastel and vibrant colored tuxedos, but two stood out the most. Jared Leto shocked and awed everyone with his lavender, satin-lapel tuxedo that was custom made for him by Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy. He accented it perfectly with a pink lapel flower and white accessories. The other tuxedo that caught our eyes was the bright red Dolce & Gabbana three piece that was worn by David Oyelowo.
2. Contrast Lapels
Contrast lapels were seen all over the red carpet this year. Both Adrien Brody in D&G and Kevin Hart in Lanvin were donned white with black contrast lapels. Other two-tone suits were worn by Ansel Elgort and Miles Teller, who wore navy tuxedos with black lapels.
3. Double-Breasted
Double-breasted may have a red carpet resurgence in 2015. Chris Pine wore a Giorgio Armani four button, double-breasted tuxedo that made him look classier than ever. He stood out amongst the standard two button tuxedos and left quite the impression.
4. Midnight Blue
Midnight blue took over the Oscars this year. The many manly iterations included contrast lapels, high peak lapels, and black bowtie accents My personal favorite was worn by Eddie Redmayne, who chose an Alexander McQueen midnight blue tuxedo set in contrast with black satin lapels.
5. Lapel Pins
Lapel pins have become the go-to red carpet accessory, adding flair without going over the top. The versatile accoutrements adorned every type of lapel, from lavender satin to the classic black notch variety. Common wore an elegant flower pin, that complemented his navy velvet Prada tuxedo perfectly.
