It’s the annual red carpet fashion show known as the Grammy Awards. Designers flex their creative might using A-List celebrities as canvases before the mysterious “committee” gives out some awards and Kanye West does something stupid to get attention. It’s interesting to see what rich and influential men choose for tuxedo attire, and this year even the women followed suit (see my colleague Jessica’s take on women’s suits at the 2015 Grammy’s). Here are the top 5 men’s suits and tuxedos from the 2015 Grammy’s, plus my best of the worst.

1. John Mayer looked clean, polished, and most importantly tailored. John wore a charcoal tuxedo for his red carpet, then changed to a blue sharkskin blazer (pictured) for his performance with Ed Sheeran. Both looks featured a bow tie with just the right amount of panache.
2. Sam Smith – The man knows how to do two important things at an award show: costume changes and win some things graciously. He did red carpet in a black tuxedo, then donned a red suit for most of the night. When he went to perform, he wore a navy plaid three-piece suit.
3. Kanye West – Say what you will about his character, but his red carpet look was strong. The Balmain velvet blazer with cowboy boots was an absolutely perfect mix. Kanye is always pushing boundaries, and this time it paid off.
4. Usher – Usher’s grey tuxedo with contrasting blue-grey lapels and striping from Calvin Klein. The look is formal, but avoids looking like everyone else’s tux. The pin on the collar is very new age, and Usher pulls it off nicely.
5. Nick Jonas – Nick wore an oversized plaid suit from Versace with white high-top sneakers. Nick does a great job of sporting the air-tie and keeping his look young and hip. Watch out for his looks at the next big show.
Best of the Worst:
Bill Kelliher – For a metal-playing dummer to step out in a balloon-themed suit takes some serious balls and cannot go unrecognized. Also note the bright-green vintage tuxedo shirt.
Todrick Hall – The soda-pop suit definitely turned some heads as Todrick reported on the red carpet. Whatever brand of weird this is, I think, for him, it works.
[…] The Grammy Awards consistently draw the most dashing red carpet suiting style of the year. In the 2015 edition, ladies stole the show and made a resounding trend statement: the women’s power suit has arrived. Also read my colleague Ryan’s take on men’s fashion from the 2015 Grammy’s. […]
We can usually reinterpret suits for around ~$1500. Please email sam@stitchedlifestyle.com to inquire further. Thanks! -Sam
My fiance has been trying to find a suit or tuxedo for our upcoming wedding and I’ve been trying to help him come up with ideas for which style to choose. I obviously won’t be recommending the balloon-themed suit or the soda-pop suit, but there are some other sharp looking suits on this list. Usher’s grey tuxedo looks both unique and formal. I’d love to see my fiance in a tuxedo like this–do you happen to know how much a suit like this would cost?
